Soothing Turmeric Smoothie with Sweet Potato & Vanilla

Soothing Turmeric Smoothie with Sweet Potato & Vanilla

Turmeric and sweet potato pair nicely, not only with complementary flavors, but also as a powerful superfood duo!

Health Benefits

Turmeric has been used medicinally for nearly 4000 years in Ayurvedic, Chinese, Japanese, and Egyptian traditional medicines. Modern medicine has recognized its importance over the past 25 years with over 3000 publications discussing its benefits.

In Ayurvedic practice, turmeric is used to strengthen the overall energy of the body, relieve gas, improve digestion of fats and relieve digestive disorders, and regulate menstruation.

It is used all over the world as an anti-inflammatory. In modern medicine, it has been proven to be helpful in inhibiting depression as well as joint inflammation. (Reference)

Recipe Notes

Vanilla Shakeology Substitutions:

You can use plain protein powder
(I recommend Naked Whey due to no hormones, antibiotics, or other icky additives that are super common in protein powders PLUS you can use this in my Whole Grain Baking Mix for super-nutritious muffins, pancakes, and more!)

and add 1 tbsp of your favorite low-glycemic index sweetener (honey or pure maple syrup are my favorites)
