Need an easy, inexpensive, healthy Halloween snack for your child’s classroom or to put together as a fun family afterschool treat? These Spooky Spider Snacks are fun for your kids to make AND eat! My kids (even Nyah, at almost 2-1/2) get a very twisted enjoyment out of plucking the spiders’ legs one-by-one and then chomping them to bits! Whatever, they’re eating whole grains and protein-packed peanut butter (or cream cheese) – no complaints here!
Ingredients
16 round whole grain crackers
1/2 c. reduced fat cream cheese, softened (do not use fat-free- learn why here)
(OR natural peanut butter)
16 raisins or dried cranberries
64 chow mein noodles (or pretzel sticks)
Directions
1. Spread each of 8 crackers with 1 tbsp. cream cheese.
2. Position chow mein noodles into cream cheese along sides (these will be the spider legs)
3. Top with remaining crackers.
4. Place 2 pea-size dabs of cream cheese on top cracker (to secure eyes) and top each with a dried cranberry or raisin.
