Superfood SMOOTHIE Recipes

If you’re like me, you LOVE saving money and getting creative by trying a lot of DIY – especially in the kitchen. I find it fun to try new things and learn about the amazing health benefits of different foods!

Sometimes, though, life gets BUSY and I don’t have as much time to research, trial, and taste-test new things – even though it’s now part of my JOB!

Just over 3 years ago (when my job consisted of being a medical transcriptionist AND full-time mom of 2 – I REALLY struggled to find the time then!) I found an amazing nutritional shake mix that I love and use regularly. It helps so much to have a done-for-you option, especially when we are traveling or life is extra chaotic.
{Learn more about how I got started and WHY I STILL use it!}

Shakeology Smoothie Recipes – Vanilla

In this section, I want to share BOTH – recipes for the die-hard DIYers and for those of us who need an EASY BUTTON sometimes. I trust you’ll find, as I have, that there is space and necessity for BOTH!

Shakeology Smoothie Recipes – Strawberry

I am a work in progress, and I am learning more about nutrition and DIY methods every day. I will add more here as I go!

For now, I will say that if you are not sure you want or need a COMPLETE nutritional supplement shake and plan to ONLY boost protein – PLEASE be careful about the protein powders you choose! Most contain artificial sweeteners, which are worse than sugar! I’ll be sharing more about this soon!

Honestly, you can save a lot of money & time by avoiding ‘protein powders’ altogether and just adding organic nonfat powdered milk or CLEAN protein to your homemade smoothies. (Naked Whey is one I highly recommend and use not only for smoothies but also in baking! I use this to make my Whole Grain Baking Mix which is included & used in all the recipes inside my Whole Grain Baking Cookbook.) This provides a nice boost of protein and several additional nutrients without any fillers or chemical ingredients. It is not a complete nutrition supplement, like Shakeology (see ingredients here), but it is comparable to any straight protein powder and less expensive!
