Citrus Spice Cranberry Marmalade RECIPE
No turkey dinner is complete without the bright, tart flavor and festive color of cranberries. I used to stock up on canned cranberry sauce at this time of year, buying enough to serve with the holiday dinner and extra for leftover turkey sandwiches (on whole grain bread with cream cheese – omg! If you haven’t tried that, you should!).

When I started to learn more about nutrition and began inspecting food labels diligently, I was disappointed to discover that most canned cranberry sauce contains high-fructose corn syrup. So that was the end of that – and I gave up my traditional berry side dish altogether… until I was inspired to create my own!

So I did, and each year since, I have discovered even more fun and delicious ways to enjoy this versatile sauce that’s bursting with juicy, citrus-spiced berry goodness. (Read all the way to the end to find my family’s favorites!).

Citrus Spice Cranberry Marmalade
This traditional Thanksgiving side is bursting with tart fresh cranberries, bright citrus, and warm spice, with just a hint of natural sweetness. Serve it warm or cold, and don't forget to save some for your leftover turkey sandwich later!

Instructions
  1. In medium saucepan, combine honey, water, juice, and spices; bring to a boil.
  2. Add dried fruit and cook for 1 minute. Stir in cranberries and cook over medium-high heat about 6-8 minutes, until about half the cranberries have popped.
  3. Remove from heat. Stir in Orange zest. Cool before serving (sauce will thicken upon standing).
Recipe Notes

STORAGE:
Keep in airtight container in fridge up to 7 days OR

FREEZE for later use - instructions here.

SERVING IDEAS:

  • Mix 1/4 c. marmalade with 1/2 c. plain nonfat yogurt.
  • Serve as a side with Thanksgiving dinner (or anytime with roast turkey, chicken, or pork).
    Serve on top of whole grain pancakes or waffles instead of syrup.
  • Turkey Cranberry Sandwich: Spread cream cheese on half a whole grain bagel or slice of whole grain bread; add Cranberry Marmalade & thinly sliced roast turkey.
