*Honestly, the Fiber Sweep drink was scary to me! I thought I’d have to gag it down, and I was really dreading it!
I was happily surprised to find it tasted GOOD, like a mild-flavored, less-sweet beverage version of a Carr’s Lemon-Ginger cookie!

~I was SURPRISED at how much overall energy I had and didn’t feel hungry for the most part, in spite of the small amount of coffee and NO complex carb foods.

Light-to-moderate exercise IS allowed with this program (hard-core activity is not recommended during the program) and I was able to do my PiYo workouts every day of the Refresh without feeling wiped out or fatigued the rest of the day.

Here’s a day-by-day breakdown of how it went for me:

Day 1
: I felt a little sluggish (I think adjusting to no coffee) but did not feel hungry.

Day 2: I felt more energetic (I chose to have NO coffee this day!) but I did find myself wanting certain foods not on the plan and feeling like I could not wait until day #4 so I could eat any and EVERYthing in sight lol! This is when it REALLY helped to know it was only 3 days. I kept telling myself, ‘just one more day, you CAN DO THIS!’

Day 3: I had a crazy amount of energy AND did not feel hungry at all!

Day 4: The day after I finished, the day I could not wait for on Day 2 so I could eat all the ‘bad stuff’ I could find….

I know it sounds weird and I was SO surprised, but I actually didn’t WANT any of that stuff by day 4!
Honestly, I found myself CRAVING VEGGIES and water.
(I try to stick to good nutrition as much as possible, but I know before the Refresh my veggie intake was not as good as it could/should be and I am a forever carb-lover!)
My appetite was still very low.
I’m guessing that the 3 days of very small, frequent meals helped regulate my appetite to what it should be for optimal energy and metabolism function, OR maybe because I actually DID get results (see below) my subconscious didn’t want to allow me to undo them! Whatever the reason, this was a VERY PLEASANT surprise for me!

~Discovered black coffee! I used to use flavored creamers AND sugar, then switched to milk and sugar, now use unsweetened almond milk and sugar. So drinking it black was SCARY at first! But skipping coffee altogether was even scarier, so I tried it. I only had about half a cup on 2 of the 3 days. It wasn’t my favorite but was tolerable. However, AFTER the refresh, I’m able to use half the amount of almond milk and HALF the amount of sugar I used to, and it tastes REALLY good!  

~I learned to enhance food flavor SIMPLY with just fresh herbs and dried/ground spices. 

~Another SURPRISE – sorry if this is TMI, but I’m sure you’re wondering… and I promised to share ALL the details, so let’s talk about gas and poo. While these are favorite topics for my husband and 8-year-old son, they are NOT for me! So I’ll keep it short & sweet!  I was a bit worried that I would feel really gassy or be in the bathroom all day during the Refresh. Day 1 was my most gassy day, but the gas was not excessive at all. I stuck to mostly the list of ‘non-gassy’ veggies and I’m convinced that helped. (The picture below shows SOME of the veggies on that list!) On Day 2, I was not gassy but felt bloated. Honestly, on this day I was getting a bit worried that I might not get any measurable results from the program! But it was only 3 days, so I stuck with it. Day 3, I didn’t feel gassy or bloated at all. As far as bathroom frequency, I was in there more due to the additional water I was drinking, but my bowel movements were actually less than usual! This also had me a little worried, thinking I should be in there more to flush stuff out. My guess is that because I’m pretty good about including veggies and water in my daily diet already, there was less junk for my body to eliminate. So this may be something to consider if your eating habits are less than ideal right now. If this is the case, I suggest starting the Refresh over the weekend when you can be home and have access to the bathroom if you need it more frequently.

~This was my first time EVER completely cutting meat, dairy, or complex carb foods (and now I was pausing all 3 at the same time!). It’s something I have always been afraid to do because I really love a lot of foods that fall into those groups! I felt like 3 days was the perfect amount of time to feel the difference in my body with giving it a break from these AND it was short enough that it didn’t feel so scary as with some other plans I’ve looked at (1-2 weeks or more!).

Also, on Day 4, I ate a small amount of grilled chicken breast in a sun-dried tomato wrap with some leftover Moroccan Carrot Salad (one of the Refresh recipes) and it actually felt like too much food at once. This was the only meat/carb foods I ate on Day 4 and it felt like MORE than enough.  

~I’m now 2 days after completing the Refresh, and drinking a glass of water first thing each morning is a habit I’m continuing beyond the end of the program. Doing this one simple thing has been shown to hydrate, flush out toxins built up during the body’s repair process while we sleep, fire up metabolism, fuel the brain, and keep our skin looking fresh and clear. I definitely feel revitalized when I start the day with this!
